Earlier today I was struck by the following vision, after which wyverns assaulted first Shard, and then Theren and Crossings.
A chill suddenly travels down your spine as your sight is seized by prophecy, and the sound of leathern wings fills the air. The city of Shard lies in flames, its streets and walls set upon by massive wyverns ranging in size from a horse to a house. One breathes a huge jet of flame at the sturdy gates, filling your sight with fire. Suddenly the vision abruptly ends, leaving you a bit shaken.
Noone seems to know what riled them up yet, but they were inevitably chased from the city. There were young, juvenile, adult, and bone wyverns. The young ones were somewhat similar in skill to celpeze, with the bones being as tough as armadillos, I hear. They would breath fire that utterly destroyed your armor, and would also poison with their stinger-tipped tails. The bone ones were undead and could cast necromantic spells like vivisection.

Yikes, these things sound pretty nasty. I woke up today just after another invasion of Shard, but all the wyverns had retreated by the time I arrived.
Looks like the peace and quiet we've been enjoying may have been too good to be true. Eyes to the skies!

Actually, we need you next invasion. I can barely fight the juvenile ones. The only way I was able to do anything was to stick with another bard who played a neat song that made me hit the scaly things hard >:3

They attacked again today!
Please encourage mages to go outside to open moongates, as the wyverns will go through moongates and come into the Triage.

Wealand gwethed this vision in the Shard invasion this morning:
Your mind hears Wealand thinking, "hmm.." Your mind hears Wealand thinking, "Unsteadily, you lurch forward upon the unnaturally smooth ground, your talons marring it with deep furrows as you do. " Your mind hears Wealand thinking, "The creatures make soft mewling noises as they rush past you, disintegrating into sweet, wet squishes and sharp crunches between your jaws. " Your mind hears Wealand thinking, "The food comes right to you here! You stretch your still-weak wings, testing them once more. Not yet. Soon. Eat more. Eat more. " Your mind hears Wealand thinking, "A sharp pain disrupts these thoughts, and, as you regain your senses, the vision dissipates, though faint echos of a great hunger linger" Your mind hears Wealand thinking, "whatever it is .. its hungry " Your mind hears Elfverhan thinking, "wyvren my guess"

I wouldn't trust the difficulty they posted. Bone wyverns felt harder than intercessors because of their special attack. Adult wyverns felt more like adult armadillos.
They also seemed to flex some, so I'd appraise them before engaging.

Thanks!
For any that missed the news, a new HLC hunting area just opened up west of Shard! If you go west out the West gate and just past the rockslide, you'll see a path in.
We can expect to see lots more injured and fallen as people try this out. There's also a waterfall that is a death trap. It's taken at least 4 lives already!

This place is great! In case anyone's wondering...
Young Wyverns fall between juvenile armadillos and adult armadillos, closer to adults. I'd say it takes 650-700 ranks, maybe less with buffs, to safely dance with 4. I'm estimating they teach to about 1100 in 3.0. I think they can be skinned with ~600 ranks and they drop gems.
Juvenile Wyverns feel like they're somewhere between adult armadillos and elder armadillos, probably closer to adults. Guessing they take around 750-800 ranks, maybe less with buffs, to safely dance with 4. They can be skinned and drop gems.
Telga Orek feel like they're somewhere between juvenile wyverns and adult wyverns in terms of difficulty. They're somewhere around 900 ranks (unbuffed). They cannot be skinned, but they drop gems.
Adult Wyverns feel like they're around drake difficulty, but they're easier to hit. They're probably somewhere in the 950-1000 ranks range to take on 4.
Ice Archons feel like they're about cabalist level difficulty (in other words, Warb can dance with... 1 without dying awfully). People are guessing they drop boxes, probably because they're giants and giants usually drop boxes.
Bone Wyverns... I'm told they feel like they're tougher than cabalists.

There's also a nice, peaceful little spring near young wyverns.
A prominent WARNING sign reads: ***************WARNING************* If you enter the spring you will probably go over Wyvern Falls and die! Seriously, you people are crazy. ~ Sentinel Captain Cierzen ***************WARNING*************
[Wyvern Mountain, Waterfall's Crest] The rushing water falls suddenly off the steep edge of a cliff, forming a constant stream that drops down the side of Wyvern Mountain in an enormous waterfall. Constant whitecaps and waves appear and disappear, ever at the mercy of the raging streams. Large rocks stick up from the rapidly flowing water, giving them the appearance of a steady struggle upstream just to stay in place. Obvious paths: north, northeast.
IR> n Roundtime: 15 sec. You flounder around in the water. IR> You begin to feel the pull of the waterfall dragging you toward it.
