(Cross posted from the DR Forums.)
Set on a mission by Interim Commander Gordaer Sib'Melyge, the Crystal Vanguard of Ilithi voyaged up the cliffs of Wyvern Mountain today in search of the source of several yeti sightings from recent years.
While searching the dangerous heights, Commander Gordaer unfortunately became victim to the terrible magics of the bone wyverns and fell. After regrouping at the Temple of Serenity, Etherian soon scouted their objective. However, the tall, fur clad creature that they found was none other than Sir Diebo himself! Gibbering with nonsense about badgers or wyvern bladders named Wylsinn, the crazed and somewhat violent Rekave was (unfortunately) needfully detained before being returned to the city of Shard.
A terrible and poorly-healed wound and broken memory hint of a catastrophic trauma, along with the probable residence of other hermit-types hidden in the reaches of the mountains that may have lent compassionate aid. Rekave will be examined and cared for by the city's best Empaths to mend his scarred body and mind, but for now he rests as we raise our prayers for his recovery.

You see Gordaer Sib'Meliyge, an Elothean Scholar.
Gordaer has an oval face and slightly pointed ears. Tilted crystal blue eyes peer through thinly framed spectacles. His platinum hair is straight and neatly trimmed. He has pale skin and a lithe build.
He is slightly tall and carries himself in a proud stature.
He is an adult.
He is holding an Elothean longbow with a wrapped handgrip of grey silks in his right hand.
He is wearing an unadorned black leather cowl, a gold Commander's badge, a stiff black leather baldric lined with cream-hued fur, an elegant mahogany case painted with black scrollwork, a topaz icesilk dress shirt with tiny polished onyx cufflinks, some unadorned black armor, a tooled leather archer's brace with elaborate scrollwork, a tightly-wrapped black satin sash clasped with faceted smoky topaz brooch, a pair of black cotton slacks and some polished black leather shoes.
You see Rekave Diebo, an Elothean.
Rekave has an angular face, tilted crystal green eyes, a straight nose and a cleft chin. His silver-gilt-streaked golden hair is very long and wavy, and is worn disheveled, hanging limply about his face. He has a jagged scar stretched across the left side of his face, marring his tanned skin and an athletic build.
He is a bit over average height for an Elothean.
He appears to be an adult.
He has a long narrow mustache that droops to either side of the mouth on his upper lip and a long thin beard.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a mangy patchwork of mix-matched furs, a battered steelsilk pack covered with numerous stitches, a heavily scratched platinum ring bearing an illegible crest and a pair of tattered trousers torn away at the knees.
Gordaer just arrived.
You smile at Gordaer.
Gordaer says, "Greetings."
Zandrith bows to Gordaer.
Rifkinn nods to Gordaer.
Shakaari smiles at Gordaer.
Rifkinn says to Gordaer, "Hello Sir."
Zamara nods to Gordaer.
You say, "Good evenin' sir."
Rifkinn asks Gordaer, "How is the day treating you?"
You stand back up.
You dust yourself off.
Klausette nods to Gordaer.
Gordaer says, "Eh. Could be better. Could be worse."
Rifkinn asks Gordaer, "A little so so eh?"
Gordaer gives a slight nod.
Rifkinn says to Gordaer, "Im Rifkinn, Rifkinn Shomm."
Gordaer says, "Gordaer."
Gordaer says, "I'll be in the usual spot, waiting for the militia."
Gordaer nods to you.
Gordaer goes north.
Zamara raises an eyebrow.
You nod in agreement.
Rifkinn says to you, "Who is that fella."
You say, "Our commander."
Zandrith says, "Interim."
Rifkinn says, "Ah."
Zandrith joins your group.
You say, "Take care everyone."
You wave.
Vahlissa smiles.
Zamara nods to you.
Vahlissa waves to you.
Rifkinn waves.
[Silver Eye, Meeting Room]
Also here: Gordaer and Starlear.
Zandrith followed.
Zandrith nods to Starlear.
Starlear gives a courteous nod and tips his balaclava politely.
You give a courteous nod.
You say, "Good evenin'."
Gordaer smiles.
Gordaer slowly empties his lungs.
Zandrith takes a sip of his brandy.
Gordaer asks, "Do we have a way to travel back to town?"
You shake your head.
You say, "Nae, the moons are all hiding."
Starlear mutters to himself.
Gordaer says, "I was afraid of that."
Gordaer asks, "How long until the next rises?"
You ponder.
You say, "About two anlaen yet."
Noopin raises his hand in a quick salute.
You smile at Shaidval.
Gordaer says, "It appears we have a good group, at least."
Noopin casually observes the area.
Noopin nods in agreement.
Shaidval winks and flashes you a sly grin.
Starlear nods.
Verrouille bows.
You flash a quick grin at Verrouille.
Starlear asks, "Do we still need a caravan?"
Noopin praises Verrouille.
Noopin flashes a wide grin.
Verrouille smiles at Noopin.
You say, "A few others are on their way."
Gordaer nods to you.
You say, "But no telling what boats or such they'll be waiting for."
You give a half-hearted grin.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Gordaer says, "By the time we get to the mountain, I bet we'll have a moon up."
Gordaer says, "One thing I hadn't thought of..."
Gordaer says, "Is how treacherous of a mountain climb would be for a caravan."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Starlear says, "Gravity would not be on our side."
Starlear grins crookedly.
Noopin snickers.
You flash a wide grin at Etherian.
Noopin says, "I was kinda looking forward to the trip back down the mountain."
Noopin grins crookedly.
Gordaer says, "Hopefully it will be brief."
Gordaer asks, "How many are we waiting on?"
Gordaer asks, "Do we have enough people that know disabling spells?"
Shaidval angles her ears forward, gazing curiously at Gordaer.
Noopin casually observes the area.
Zandrith ponders.
Starlear says, "Probably."
You nod.
You say, "I think we're mostly accounted for, at least for those that have returned my thoughts."
Gordaer says to Starlear, "We can head out on your command."
Noopin stands up.
Noopin dusts himself off.
Starlear asks, "I assume we're following you?"
Starlear grins at Gordaer, his dimples flashing into view.
Gordaer says, "No, we're going to follow you."
Gordaer chortles softly at some secret joke.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Gordaer joins Starlear's group.
Starlear says, "Well then."
Everyone joins Starlear's group.
Starlear nods.
Verrouille smiles.
Noopin flashes a quick grin.
Gordaer slings an Elothean longbow with a wrapped handgrip of grey silks off from over his shoulder.
Etherian draws forth a kertig cutlass.
Noopin deftly removes the bizarre axe from his belt.
Starlear says, "Okay, let me know folks when you're done with magic and are ready."
Verrouille nods.
You ask, "I can make us invisible if it's desired, but often I find it is not, so just let me know?"
You grin sheepishly.
Zandrith says, "Im good."
Shaidval nods politely to Starlear.
Etherian nods to Starlear.
Starlear nods.
Gordaer says, "If we have trouble with the native creatures, that may be handy."
Noopin nods in agreement.
Starlear says, "I think as a group we can probably knock them for a loop."
Starlear says, "Probably."
Noopin says, "Perhaps it might be advantageous if we're able to sneak up on it in such a manner."
Noopin nibbles his lip thoughtfully.
Starlear nods at Noopin, obviously agreeing with his views.
Starlear says, "Do it."
Starlear nods to you.
You nod.
Gordaer says, "If the rumors are right, we want this creature bound quickly."
You gesture.
The whole world begins to shimmer as a refractive field quickly gathers around you.
You hear the voice of Noopin ask, "Anyone have rope?"
You hear a voice say, "I have no idea what kind of damage it can cause us."
From out of thin air you say, "I have a heavy rope."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "I have a faeweave rope."
You hear the voice of Zandrith say, "I have soul bond."
You hear a voice say, "I have webs."
You hear the voice of Noopin say, "Excellent. I'll try to calm it if and when we come across it."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "Okay so first things first. Before we go poking around all willy nilly, let's have a plan."
Noopin nods.
You hear a male Human voice say, "I can attempt to stun it. Hopefully I'm swift enough."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "I am fairly sure Etherian is the most skilled amongst us in general combat, so if possible he should try and get its attention. All the rest of us should focus on disabling it. Noopin will probably have the most effective ones for that purpose."
From out of thin air you say, "I can try to sleep and dazzle as well."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "I will focus on making it less effective in combat so that if that doesn't go so well, at least it's not eating our faces."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "Zandrith do that also."
You hear the voice of Zandrith say, "Gotcha."
You hear the voice of Noopin say, "I think Albreda's Balm may be the most potent of my abilities. If I can keep it calm, that should at least give us an opportunity to get it down and tied up."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "Between clerical curses, Vertigo, and Tremor, we should be okay if that doesn't work out for Noopin."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "IF it doesn't, we'll wait for the Commander to issue further orders."
You hear the voice of Noopin say, "Sounds good to me."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "I assume it's preferable to take it alive."
You hear someone chuckling.
You hear a voice say, "Please."
You hear a voice say, "We'll be passing through a variety of large critters on our search for it too."
You hear a voice say, "I know that is much more challenging that dead."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "Yep. Alright, let's head out then."
You follow Starlear out.
From out of thin air you ask, "Did we lose anyone?"
[Western Road, Foot of Wyvern Mountain]
You hear the voice of Starlear ask, "Alright, do we still have everyone?"
You hear a voice say, "Hard to say."
You hear someone laugh.
You hear someone chuckling.
From out of thin air you say, "Heh."
You stretch your arms. Feels great!
You hear the voice of Zandrith say, "Here."
You hear the voice of Shaidval say, "Let us assume the silence on the gweth net would indicate nobody got lost."
You say, "I'll recast in a roi."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "Also here."
You say, "It should wear off soon."
You hear a loud thud nearby.
You hear someone chuckling.
Noopin grins slowly.
Shaidval lashes her tail.
Starlear says, "Alright. We appear to be good."
Starlear nods.
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "If somehow we DO get separated, try and make your way to the temple, and send a thought to my ring."
From out of thin air you say, "Aye."
You follow Starlear.
You hear the voice of Starlear ask, "Do we know where it could be lurking?"
The juvenile wyvern searches around for a moment.
The juvenile wyvern discovers everyone but Etherian and Gordaer, ruining their hiding places!
You notice a juvenile wyvern, ruining its hiding place!
Etherian reveals himself.
Etherian gestures at a juvenile wyvern.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over a juvenile wyvern, trapping it in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
A juvenile wyvern thrashes about in a torrent of feral rage, attempting to throw off the sticky net of webbing entangling its muscular form.
You hear a voice say, "There are a lot."
You say, "They're more perceptive than I can compensate for."
A juvenile wyvern lurches forward to stab its tail stinger at Starlear!
The air around Starlear solidifies into a blinding yellow luminescence and intercepts the attack with a shower of coruscating light.
The juvenile wyvern's tail lashes at Starlear. The tail stinger lands a light hit to Starlear's right arm!
Starlear retreats from combat.
[Wyvern Mountain, Temple Path]
You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.
You hear a voice say, "Good work, so far."
Starlear asks, "Everyone still in one piece and not on fire?"
Starlear laughs!
You hear the voice of Noopin say, "So far..."
You hear someone snickering.
You hear a voice say, "Indeed."
You hear the voice of Shaidval say, "Don't jinx it."
You hear the voice of Starlear ask, "Do we know approximately where it might be?"
Your Chadatru idol thrums softly as it discharges as much power as necessary, leaving a moderate amount left for future use.
You hear a voice ask, "Did you hear that?"
You hear a voice ask, "Are we able to head further up?"
From out of thin air you say, "My idol cambrinth thrummed, I didn't hear anything else though."
You hear the voice of Starlear ask, "Up as in vertical, or up as in up this path further?"
You hear a voice ask, "As in higher up the mountain?"
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "Okay, if we're going to poke around outside further, I'm going to add one more bit of advice."
From out of thin air you say, "There's a campsite up in the nesting grounds..."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "If someone gets in trouble and looks hurt, drag them off to safety."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "Also we may as well just drop the invisibility, since they see right through it."
You hear someone chuckling.
You put your idol in your traveler's backpack.
You say, "It'll wear off in a roi."
You hear the voice of Starlear say, "Alright."
You follow Starlear.
[Wyvern Mountain, Ascent]
Starlear starts to climb up a steep cliff leading sharply upward but doesn't quite make it.
An icy wail cuts through the air as a bone wyvern soars into view and begins circling the area, the tattered remains of its wings partically cloaking its skeletal body.
A bone wyvern slowly walks into the room with an eerily deliberate and methodical movement, unfurling its rotted wings and releasing a disembodied cry.
With a ghostly wail a bone wyvern charges into view with a rush of icy wind, unfurling its rotting wings and slashing its talons through the air.
A bone wyvern's eyes flare purple as it stares intently at Gordaer.
The bone wyvern begins to advance on Gordaer.
Starlear says, "Oh dear."
Etherian retreats from combat.
Starlear carefully studies the steep cliff.
Gordaer retreats from combat.
A bone wyvern swipes its fingertips across its hand.
A bone wyvern's eyes flare an intense lurid purple as it discharges its necromantic energy.
The blood on a bone wyvern's hand seems to burble and shift before it flicks its wrist to send the incarnadine droplets hurtling towards Gordaer!
Gordaer's ethereal shield crackles with energy!
The droplets burst in crimson bubbles that leave light searing across Gordaer's left arm.
Some of the droplets spray elsewhere, causing collateral damage!
Eruptions of malefic deep crimson flame herald the impact of the incarnadine droplets into his abdomen, each explosion igniting further chain reactions with the droplets around it. Gordaer's head is torn off instantly, and shreds of ragged flesh and bone are sent winging outwards from the annihilated area by the sheer force of the detonation, each lit up with unceasing fire that only dies out after it consumes every shred utterly.
Gordaer is knocked completely senseless!
Some of the droplets spray elsewhere, causing collateral damage!
Lieutenant Starlear's group climbed down a steep ledge leading sharply downward.
Starlear says, "Go get him."
Noopin briefly spreads his arms outward and begins humming. The volume quickly rises
as punctuated rhythms form in the spaces between the tones.
Starlear nods to Etherian.
[18:36] * Gordaer was just struck down!
Noopin says, "Gah."
Etherian winces.
You say, "Oh dear."
Starlear mutters to himself.
Starlear starts to climb up a steep cliff, but finds it too difficult.
You say, "Uhm."
Outlander Etherian climbed up a steep cliff.
You nod to Noopin.
You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.
Etherian just climbed down a steep cliff, dragging the body of Gordaer behind him.
Noopin winces.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer ask, "Do we have a Paladin for a banner?"
An adult wyvern bears its razor-sharp fangs with a guttural snarl, and viciously draws its blackened talons across the ground in anticipation of attack.
You say, "Nae."
Starlear says, "We've got a bard for something similar."
Starlear grins, revealing his dimples.
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer exclaim, "This seems to work just fine!"
Noopin says, "Terrible mana here though."
You nod in agreement.
Noopin says, "I won't be able to hold it forever."
Noopin launches strongly into the chorus of his enchante, vocalizing half-formed words with a strong passion that causes him to flush. Deep undertones resonate in his voice, bringing a depth to his singing that could not previously be felt.
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer exclaim, "See? I told you I was not much of a fighter!"
An adult wyvern bears its razor-sharp fangs with a guttural snarl, and viciously draws its blackened talons across the ground in anticipation of attack.
You ask, "Should we head down to the campsite?"
Noopin says, "Gonna need better Elemental mana to hold them off."
Starlear grabs Gordaer's body and drags it west with him.
Noopin says, "Join me, we'll follow."
An adult wyvern bears its razor-sharp fangs with a guttural snarl, and viciously draws its blackened talons across the ground in anticipation of attack.
We join Noopin's group.
Noopin asks, "That everyone?"
Noopin nods.
You say, "Seems so."
You follow Noopin west.
[Wyvern Mountain, Temple Path]
Noopin slowly empties his lungs.
Noopin joins Starlear's group.
Etherian asks Starlear, "Want me to look around?"
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer say, "I am too wounded. I may depart to the temple."
You say, "Hold on, I can bring an empath."
Starlear nods.
You say, "I'll return quickly."
Shaidval kneels down before Gordaer.
Noopin says, "I'm going to go funnel some mana into my cambrinth right quick."
You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.
(Quick climb down and up the mountain.)
You pant.
Shakaari lays his hand on Gordaer's arm.
Starlear bows to Shakaari.
Starlear says, "Thank you for your aid."
Starlear raises his hand in a quick salute.
Etherian says, "I'll wander around a bit but keep my distance if or when I do find something."
Starlear nods to Etherian.
Starlear says, "Yes. Don't get eaten."
Etherian grins.
Shaidval gestures at Gordaer.
A thin silver nimbus surrounds Gordaer.
Etherian gestures.
In the blink of an eye, Etherian disappears into his surroundings.
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer say, "It may also be ideal to not remain in a room full of them for longer than a moment."
Starlear says, "I'm going to scout as well."
Shakaari asks, "Is this the only safe room?"
You hear a voice say, "Good idea."
Starlear says, "Remotely."
Starlear grins, revealing his dimples.
Noopin says, "Ah."
Starlear gets a distant look on his face.
You say, "There's a campsite up in their nesting grounds, but otherwise, aye I think so."
Noopin joins Starlear's group.
Shakaari says, "Life mana's not that great here."
Noopin grins.
Starlear says, "It mostly looks clear from what I can see. My familiar doesn't know how to climb, and I have trouble with it myself once we get to the cliffs."
Starlear nods.
Starlear says, "Well, clear as in, only wyverns."
Starlear grins, revealing his dimples.
Noopin chuckles to himself.
Starlear nods.
Starlear says, "Etherian checked the highest points and is on the peak currently and sees no sign of it."
Starlear nods.
Starlear asks, "Shakaari, are any areas nearby better for your mana?"
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer ask, "Can he safely scout the middle area?"
Starlear nods.
Shakaari says, "I think this is working...Zamara's attunement ritual seems to still be affecting me."
Starlear says, "I told him to work his way down carefully and report anything he sees."
Starlear nods.
You hum to yourself.
You mutter something into the air about probably hiding.
You gesture.
You sense that Etherian is about, but can not pinpoint his location.
You nod.
With a waver like a mirage, Etherian fades into view.
You nod to Etherian.
Starlear says, "Wait until he's up."
Starlear nods to Gordaer.
Starlear says, "Tell them what you told me, though."
Starlear nods to Etherian.
Etherian says, "I saw Rekave."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Noopin blinks.
Noopin exclaims, "Where?!"
You blink at Etherian.
You hear a quiet voice say, "Wh.."
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer ask, "Are you certain?"
Etherian nods.
Noopin asks, "Was.. was he alive..?"
Etherian says, "By the river, talking to Gorteous."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Noopin beams!
You gesture.
Something about Rekave prevents you from generating a mirror.
Starlear slowly empties his lungs.
Noopin lets out a long sigh of relief.
Shakaari lays his hand on Gordaer's arm.
Starlear firmly says, "Let's get him back to town in one piece."
You scrunch your eyebrows together and furrow your brow.
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer say, "The plan has not changed. Approach with caution, and a prepared spell."
Noopin nods in agreement.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer say, "I am grateful for the healing."
Shakaari says, "My pleasure."
Spirit Lord Aftermath came through a small bamboo gate.
Noopin praises Aftermath.
Starlear adds Aftermath to his group.
Starlear praises Aftermath.
Aftermath says, "Hail."
Shakaari ponders.
Starlear says, "Hello there."
You wave to Aftermath.
Shaidval nods amiably at Aftermath.
Noopin says, "Greetings, Aftermath."
Noopin beams at Aftermath!
Aftermath says, "Good evening everyone."
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer say, "Greetings."
Zandrith nods.
Aftermath says to Gordaer, "You don't seem to be doing very well."
You hear the ghostly voice of Gordaer say, "Indeed not."
A soft crackle briefly comes from Shaidval's direction.
Shaidval gazes up at the sky.
Starlear says, "He's getting better."
Starlear chuckles.
Aftermath asks Gordaer, "Is the draw on that difficult to maneuver?"
Aftermath says, "With."
Aftermath coughs.
As Shaidval intones a quiet prayer to the Gods, her hands begin to glow faintly silver. She extends a glowing hand towards the body of Gordaer.
Dark crimson bands of light flow about the body of Gordaer, pulsating with a heartbeat rhythm. Silvery-grey tendrils twine around the red bands, seeping into the corpse. As the last tendril vanishes from view, the bands explode with a brilliant flash and Gordaer blinks dazedly, wobbling on his feet.
Aftermath praises Shaidval.
Starlear moves over to guard Gordaer.
Shaidval stands up.
Gordaer makes a wheezing sound.
Everyone joins Starlear's group.
Gordaer says, "Wow. And on my feet."
Zandrith joins Starlear's group.
Etherian asks Gordaer, "Just to make sure I understand.. we're to..immobilize Rekave?"
Gordaer says, "Correct."
Starlear cocks his head.
You scrunch your eyebrows together and furrow your brow.
Noopin gnaws on his lip.
You hear a voice ask, "Should we not assess the situation first?"
Shaidval lashes her tail.
Aftermath searches around for a moment.
Gordaer says, "I had a suspicion it was him. I was not able to confirm it."
Starlear mutters to himself.
You ponder.
Gordaer says, "I also did not want to get your hopes up, which was why I discouraged the idea before."
Gordaer nods to Starlear.
Etherian says, "If he is too desperate to get away, he is standing next to a very tall waterfall."
Etherian shudders.
You say, "Only seventeen roi till the dark moon rises."
Starlear says, "That makes the bit about "alive" more important."
Noopin gives a slight nod.
Noopin frets.
Your mind hears Gorteous thinking, "He's not here, but I am. going to. splat."
[18:56] * Gorteous was just struck down!
Etherian says, "Gorteous must have just gone over that waterfall."
Starlear says, "I will not go down in history as the lieutenant that led his regiment off to accidentally knock his commander off a cliff."
You ask, "Hmm. Shall we go get Gorteous?"
Faint yelling echos across the mountain, reaching your ears.
You say, "Er, nevermind. He departed."
Starlear asks, "Alright, are we all ready to head off there?"
You nod.
Zandrith nods.
Gordaer wavers into view for a moment.
Gordaer joins Starlear's group.
Noopin nods.
Shaidval nods to Starlear.
You hear a voice say, "I am ready."
Etherian joins Starlear's group.
Starlear designates Etherian as the new leader of the group.
Shakaari asks, "Umm, where are we going?"
Starlear stops guarding.
Starlear says, "Rescue mission."
Noopin says, "Ready when you are."
Starlear nods to Shakaari.
Etherian grins.
Aftermath says, "So we're to immobilize this Rekave."
Etherian says, "I'll lead to the area right next to him, which should be safe."
Etherian says, "Assuming he hasn't moved."
Starlear says, "He's our original commander before he disappeared."
Starlear nods to Aftermath.
Etherian asks, "Everyone ready?"
Aftermath nods to Starlear.
You ask, "To find the Rekave-yeti. I guess. Rekaveti?"
You hear a voice say, "Just a moment longer."
You ponder.
You hear a voice say, "Okay."
Starlear asks, "Are we ready yeti?"
Starlear flips his hair over one shoulder.
Noopin appears to be trying hard not to grin.
You hear someone laugh.
Etherian chuckles.
You gaze at Starlear.
Noopin nods to Starlear.
Etherian asks, "All set?"
Zandrith nods.
You hear someone chortling.
Etherian says, "Moving."
Outlander Etherian's group went through a small bamboo gate.
[Wyvern Mountain, Narrow Cliff]
You also see a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face and a steep cliff.
Etherian says, "He's east of here."
Etherian asks, "All set?"
Noopin nods.
Verrouille wavers into view for a moment.
Verrouille joins Etherian's group.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
You follow Etherian east.
[Wyvern Mountain, Narrow Cliff]
Also here: Rekave.
Rekave says to Gorteous, "I'm not joking. Wylsinn is missing."
Starlear gazes at Rekave.
Gorteous says, "Is this some kind of."
Rekave exclaims, "THE MOUNTAIN BADGERS!"
Gorteous says, "Party."
Rekave points at Noopin.
Aftermath nods to Gorteous.
Noopin ducks his head.
You gesture at Rekave.
You attempt to weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, but it is too strong for you. The half-completed spell dissipates harmlessly.
Rekave becomes enraged by your spell!
Gorteous says, "Or is it just me."
Noopin smiles at Rekave.
You scrunch your eyebrows together and furrow your brow.
Rekave exclaims, "You took Wylsinn!"
Etherian ponders.
Gorteous says, "Wait."
Noopin says, "Greetings, Rekave."
Noopin bows to Rekave.
Noopin asks, "Who..?"
Rekave snarls in rage.
Noopin asks, "Wha..?"
Noopin winces.
Shaidval twitches an ear at you nervously.
Starlear sighs.
Gorteous says, "This guy."
Rekave begins to advance on Noopin.
Starlear gestures at Rekave.
Rekave suddenly turns pale and begins to look unsteady.
Etherian gestures at Rekave.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over Rekave, trapping him in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
Gorteous says, "Is looking for some other guy."
Aftermath begins to advance on Rekave.
Starlear moves over to guard Noopin.
Rekave exclaims, "YOU GIVE WYLSINN BACK!"
You move over to guard Noopin.
You catch sight of Verrouille as he approaches Rekave from behind with a determined expression. After getting into position, he suddenly strikes, catching Rekave by surprise and landing a solid blow to the back of his skull. Rekave seems stunned by the impact, wincing and shaking him head repeatedly.
Aftermath gestures at Rekave.
Rekave pauses for several moments.
He drops to his knees before Aftermath, closing his eyes in shame.
Noopin shakes his head at Rekave.
Noopin shakes his head at Rekave.
Starlear says, "Sir."
Noopin exclaims, "You're confused!"
Starlear bends over and shakes Rekave's shoulder!
Aftermath grabs hold of Rekave in a tight grip.
Noopin exclaims, "I did no such thing!"
Aftermath says, "Stay put."
Rekave scowls.
Noopin launches strongly into the chorus of his enchante, vocalizing half-formed words with a strong passion that causes him to flush. Deep undertones resonate in his voice, bringing a depth to his singing that could not previously be felt.
Noopin frets.
Aftermath says, "And calm down."
Gorteous says, "Someone tell me what the hell is going on."
Noopin asks, "Let's talk this out... Maybe we should go speak back in town... yes?"
Noopin peers quizzically at Rekave.
Aftermath says, "I have a good hold on him."
Gorteous asks, "Please?"
Starlear says, "We're not entirely sure. But this here is our Commander, and he's been missing for some time now."
Rekave suddenly tenses his body, forcing himself up to a sitting position, breaking Aftermath's grip on him.
Rekave gasps for air and leans sideways, trying to regain balance.
Rekave falls back, flat on the ground!
Starlear nods to Gorteous.
You gesture at Rekave.
You contribute your harnessed streams to increase the pattern's potential.
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Aftermath says, "He shouldn't be going anywhere."
You exclaim, "There!"
Aftermath grabs hold of Rekave in a tight grip.
Rekave exclaims, "Wylsinn!"
Rekave exclaims, "Give him back!"
Shaidval says to Starlear, "He seems a bit distraught."
Noopin gives a slight nod.
Starlear asks, "Who is Wylsinn?"
Rekave stands up.
Starlear gazes at Rekave.
Gorteous says, "Rekave."
Aftermath glances at Rekave.
Rekave exclaims, "He is my friend you mongrel!"
Rekave begins to advance on Starlear.
Aftermath shoves Rekave with tremendous force, knocking him into a sprawling heap.
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Gorteous says, "Chill for a moment."
Rekave begins to advance on Starlear.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over Rekave, trapping him in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
Starlear frowns.
Rekave appears intensely distracted.
He drops to his knees before Aftermath, closing his eyes in shame.
You gaze sadly at Rekave.
Gorteous says, "Let these guys help."
Aftermath grabs hold of Rekave in a tight grip.
Rekave exclaims, "GIVE HIM BACK!"
Gorteous says, "They know the deal."
Starlear says, "Sir. I apologize for this."
Gorteous says, "They know where to find your comrade."
Rekave slumps wearily and drops like a rock, dead to the world.
Starlear bends slightly and slaps Rekave!
Starlear says, "Snap out of it."
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Noopin says, "Sir, please listen to us. We're here to help you."
Rekave stirs a bit.
Gordaer just arrived.
Noopin says, "We can help you find Wylsinn, you like."
Gordaer asks, "Are we able to get him to town?"
Noopin nods emphatically at Rekave.
Noopin furrows his brow.
Rekave exclaims, "Give him back!"
Etherian says, "Mistanna said a moon is rising soon."
Aftermath says to Rekave, "You can attack me all you want, if it will help you calm down."
Starlear says, "Let's get him to town and figure out what he's on about, and then figure out who Wylsinn is and help."
You say, "Ten roi to moonlight, but we can drag as long as we keep him down."
Gorteous says, "You could throw him off the cliff and drag him back."
Gorteous snorts, loudly.
Rekave stirs a bit.
Noopin says, "We will, but you need to come with us first."
Noopin nods to Rekave.
You say, "Which Noop seems to be handling."
You grin at Noopin.
Starlear asks Gordaer, "Name ring any bells to you?"
Rekave sprawls wearily and passes out.
Rekave struggles to stand with Aftermath but fails.
Gordaer shakes his head at Starlear.
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Noopin says, "Dunno for how long... Mana may become an issue."
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Noopin frets.
Gorteous says, "He seems to have damaged his brain."
Noopin says, "Especially if we hit some splotchy patches along the way."
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Rekave slumps wearily and drops like a rock, dead to the world.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over Rekave, trapping him in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
Rekave scowls.
Aftermath gestures at Rekave.
Rekave pauses for several moments.
Gordaer asks, "How long until the moon again?"
Rekave exclaims to Gordaer, "You!"
Gorteous says, "Rekave."
Noopin says to Rekave, "We're here to help you."
The spiders renew their efforts, and Rekave is quickly webbed once more!
Gordaer blinks at Rekave.
Gorteous says, "Let's go to town."
Rekave sprawls wearily and passes out.
Rekave yells, "Wylsinn! Give him back!"
You ponder.
The spiders lose their interest in Rekave.
You get a small leather ball painted with a faded butterfly from inside your traveler's backpack.
Gorteous asks, "That's where he needs to go yea?"
You show Rekave your leather ball.
Rekave sprawls wearily and passes out.
Gordaer nods to Gorteous.
Noopin says to Rekave, "Come with us, we'll get... Wylsinn together..."
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Noopin clears his throat.
Starlear says to Rekave, "Sir. Calm down. And listen."
Gorteous grabs Rekave's arm and drags him west with him.
You wander west.
Gorteous holds hands with Rekave.
Rekave scowls.
Professor Gorteous climbed down a steep cliff.
Your leather ball makes the climb more difficult.
[Western Road, Foot of Wyvern Mountain]
Also here: Zeteivek, Battle Chanter Noopin, Gremlin Zandrith who is shrouded in ghostly flames, Warrior Priestess Shaidval who is shrouded in ghostly flames, Spirit Lord Aftermath who is emanating a benevolent holy aura, Outlander Etherian, Lieutenant Starlear who has a fiery visage and Rekave who is lying down.
Noopin prepares his axe for battle, showing off his skill with a flourish.
The snow leopard growls, "Wyslinn is in town, just follow the people"
Rekave sprawls wearily and passes out.
Rekave stirs a bit.
Gordaer comes out of hiding.
Gorteous searches around for a moment.
Etherian asks, "Keep him asleep and start dragging into town?"
Rekave sprawls wearily and passes out.
Noopin asks, "Which way?"
Starlear grabs Rekave and drags him south with him.
Gorteous just arrived, dragging Rekave behind him.
Your mind hears Gorteous thinking, "He's running"
Starlear mutters to himself.
Zeteivek asks you, "What happened to the scrawny one?"
You chuckle.
You look at Zeteivek and shrug.
Zeteivek furrows his brow.
[Western Road, Foot of Wyvern Mountain]
Also here: Rekave who is lying down.
Gordaer comes out of hiding.
Aftermath fights a losing battle against Rekave, falling into a worse position.
Starlear says, "Poor fellow."
Etherian gestures at Rekave.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over Rekave, trapping him in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
Noopin nods at Starlear, obviously agreeing with his views.
Noopin sighs.
Starlear glances at Gordaer.
Rekave struggles to stand with Aftermath but fails.
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Thousands of tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling around Rekave, but since he is already covered in webs, there is no further effect.
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Rekave begins to wake.
Gordaer puts his arrow in his stiff leather baldric.
Aftermath says to Rekave, "Nobody is getting hurt here, so why don't we just talk about this."
The spiders renew their efforts, and Rekave is quickly webbed once more!
Gordaer asks, "Ok... which way into town?"
Noopin points southeast.
Etherian says, "Southeast-ish."
Gordaer asks, "Will we have a gate soon?"
Rekave says to Aftermath, "Give Wylsinn back. Now. I will eat all of you stupid mountain badgers."
The spiders lose their interest in Rekave.
You nod to Gordaer.
Rekave snarls.
You say, "Three roi.".
Etherian says, "A couple of rois til a gate."
The spiders lose their interest in Rekave.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over Rekave, trapping him in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
Noopin says, "Let's hold him in place."
Noopin says, "That might be our best bet."
Aftermath moves effortlessly around Rekave, dragging him along and pulling him off balance.
Aftermath flings Rekave around, spinning and throwing him completely off balance.
The spiders renew their efforts, and Rekave is quickly webbed once more!
Gordaer says, "Ok, let's hold him until then. We can lure him through the gate. I just realize what he's after."
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Rekave spins around to face Gordaer!
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Rekave begins to wake.
Aftermath gestures at Rekave.
Rekave pauses for several moments.
Starlear asks, "What is it he's after?"
The spiders lose their interest in Rekave, who manages to break free.
Gordaer leaps out of hiding to strike at Rekave's temple, who seems completely surprised!
Rekave is clouted solidly across the temple in a single precise stroke! Rekave staggers before shaking his head wildly. Rekave's eyes drift unfocused as he tries to regain his bearings!
Zeteivek raises an eyebrow.
Gordaer points at a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face.
The spiders renew their efforts, and Rekave is quickly webbed once more!
Gordaer says, "This repulsive thing."
Gorteous nods politely.
Aftermath asks, "Where is Wylsinn?"
You nod to Gordaer.
Noopin raises an eyebrow in Gordaer's direction.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over Rekave, trapping him in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
Gorteous nods to Rekave.
Gordaer shrugs.
Gordaer says, "Don't ask..."
Zeteivek hesitantly says, "I missed something."
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
The spiders renew their efforts, and Rekave is quickly webbed once more!
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Noopin chortles softly at some secret joke.
Rekave begins to wake.
Gordaer glances at Rekave.
Starlear glances at Rekave.
Rekave says, "GIVE."
Aftermath breaks away from Rekave.
Gordaer retreats from combat.
Rekave says, "HIM."
You say, "One more roi."
Aftermath shoves Rekave with tremendous force, knocking him into a sprawling heap.
Rekave says, "BACK."
Aftermath begins to advance on Rekave.
You gesture at Rekave.
Rekave is already asleep!
Gorteous asks, "He said he lost his friend in the water. Who is his friend?"
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Rekave points at Gordaer.
Rekave says, "He has him."
Rekave exclaims, "He has Wylsinn!"
Zeteivek quietly asks you, "We are not killing him?"
Gordaer says, "I am his friend."
Rekave just punched Gordaer!
Zeteivek glances at Rekave.
Rekave shakes his head violently, and seems suddenly more focused.
You nod to Zeteivek.
Starlear says to Zeteivek, "No."
Gordaer rubs his cheek, glaring at Rekave.
Starlear gestures at Rekave.
The bright flash disorients Rekave.
Rekave shakes off the effects of the blinding light!
Zeteivek clenches his great spear tightly until his knuckles go white.
Rekave snarls.
Rekave lets out a roar of frustration as he attempts to regain his footing.
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Noopin glances at Zeteivek.
Zeteivek says, "I could put him down."
Starlear gestures at Rekave, who jumps in surprise as his hair stands on end!
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Noopin says to Zeteivek, "No."
Noopin fixes Zeteivek with an acute, keen-witted stare.
You say to Zeteivek, "Nae."
Gorteous asks, "Is wylssin an alias or something?"
Gorteous scratches his head.
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Rekave begins to advance on Gordaer.
Etherian gestures at Rekave.
A thousand tiny spiders crawl out of their hiding places and begin crawling over Rekave, trapping him in a cocoon of sticky webbing.
Alluring strands of balmy music swirl through the area, gradually giving way to the heavy vibrato in Noopin's voice. The regular chord progression seems to compel the mind to submerse in unfeeling darkness.
Rekave slumps wearily and drops like a rock, dead to the world.
Aftermath throws his weight into it and shoves Rekave clean off his feet and onto his back.
Starlear says, "Wylssin appears to be the wyvern bladder he's filled with pinecones."
Aftermath grabs hold of Rekave in a tight grip.
Starlear sighs.
You hear a voice say, "Katamba should be up."
Zeteivek chortles softly at some secret joke.
You say, "Almost."
Verrouille asks, "Is there any reason he couldn't have it back, if it would settle him?"
Zeteivek asks, "Pinecones? What sort of fun have I missed?"
Katamba slowly rises above the horizon.
You gesture.
An oozing pool of darkness collects at your feet as you focus a moonbeam from Katamba into the area.
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
You say, "Alright."
Gorteous asks, "Why not just give it back to him?"
Rekave begins to advance on Gordaer.
You wander southeast.
[Shard, North Entrance of The Great Tower]
Gordaer peers through the Moongate.
Gordaer waves a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face at Rekave.
Noopin just went through a black Moongate, dragging Rekave with him.
Verrouille says, "Understood."
Gordaer is apparently wrestling with a wrought iron gate.
Rekave stands up.
Gordaer came through a black Moongate.
A soothing melody swims mellowly through the air, evoking intensifying sensations of torpor.
Rekave slumps wearily and drops like a rock, dead to the world.
Aftermath gestures at Rekave.
Rekave begins to mope around obliviously.
Gordaer says, "Or that."
Noopin nods.
A black Moongate collapses in on itself.
Aftermath jumps at Rekave and barely misses, tumbling to the ground and skidding to his knees.
Aftermath jumps at Rekave wrapping his arms around Rekave, dragging them both down.
Gordaer asks, "Is everyone here?"
Noopin asks, "What now..?"
Rekave exclaims, "No! No! You can't! You can't take him away, I'll murder you, I swear it!"
Noopin nods to Gordaer.
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Aftermath suddenly falls back, pulling Rekave down with him.
You weave the spell pattern into Rekave's mind, gently forcing him into an enchanted sleep.
Starlear says, "Sir, may I hold the...whatever that is? I have an idea."
Rekave screams in frustration.
Gordaer says to Aftermath, "You have quite the strength."
Gordaer offers Starlear a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face.
Starlear accepts Gordaer's wyvern bladder.
Gordaer blanches.
Starlear sniffs at a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face.
Aftermath says to Gordaer, "I eat too much, I just fall with my body weight."
Noopin wrinkles his nose.
The lulling song of Noopin softens wistfully into low, silky thrums which paint a waking dream in sound.
Rekave sprawls wearily and passes out.
Zeteivek looks at Rekave and sighs.
Gordaer asks, "Is there anything you all can think of that would calm him down?"
Aftermath says, "Not many can hnadle that kind of force."
You gaze at Rekave.
Zeteivek says, "Get a closer look at his ring."
Zeteivek puts his spear in his leather baldric.
Aftermath asks, "Other than his friend?"
Gorteous says, "Wylssin. What an original name."
You say, "His sister."
(Starlear sits down and begins speaking in hushed tones with the wyvern bladder he is holding.)
Aftermath says, "Maybe a drink."
Starlear takes a seat.
You ask, "Where is Inyasa?"
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Rekave slumps wearily and drops like a rock, dead to the world.
Starlear glances at Rekave.
You gaze up at the sky.
Starlear nods to a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face.
Aftermath suddenly falls back, pulling Rekave down with him.
Starlear stands up.
Starlear dusts himself off.
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Starlear says, "Let him stand."
Rekave begins to advance on Starlear.
Rekave exclaims, "GIVE HIM BACK!"
Gordaer says, "Lords, hopefully he'll wear himself out soon."
Starlear says, "Sir."
Starlear nods to Rekave.
Starlear says, "And let him be. Let him come at me."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
You frown at Starlear.
Noopin winces.
The snow leopard growls, "Brave Mountain Badger, be careful"
Gordaer says, "This doesn't sound like it will end well."
Zeteivek says, "Look at him. He's worn and beaten. Starlear can take a thrashing."
Zeteivek waves his hand distractedly.
Aftermath asks Rekave, "Are you done struggling?"
Rekave scowls.
Starlear nods to a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face.
Starlear asks Rekave, "This is a friend of yours?"
You ask Rekave, "Do you remember your sister?"
Starlear smiles at Rekave, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
You scrunch your eyebrows together and furrow your brow.
Starlear taps a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face that he is holding.
Rekave exclaims, "Not until you ridiculous mountain badgers give Wylsinn back! Wylsinn hold on! I won't let them hurt you!"
Rekave begins to advance on Starlear.
Starlear says to Rekave, "We are not badgers."
You say to Rekave, "We won't hurt him."
Starlear says to Rekave, "And I am not going to hurt your friend. But I would like it if you'd introduce us."
Rekave exclaims, "You took him!"
Starlear says, "He seems very nice."
Rekave says, "Of course he is."
Noopin takes a seat.
Noopin squints.
Starlear asks, "How did the two of you meet, anyway?"
Rekave says, "In the water."
Starlear smiles politely, giving the bladder an affectionate pet on the head.
Rekave suddenly looks rather less content with life in general.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Gordaer looks mildly disgusted.
Starlear asks, "So you're both into swimming, or...?"
Rekave says, "It was after. After something."
Starlear asks, "What sort of something?"
Verrouille's thrusting blade suddenly slips away into an errant shadow.
Rekave exclaims, "Shut up and give him back to me!"
Rekave stands, pulling Aftermath up with him.
Rekave begins to advance on Starlear.
Noopin stands up.
Zeteivek looks at Rekave and sighs.
Noopin shifts his weight.
Gordaer says to Starlear, "I am much more tempted to just throw him in jail."
Rekave lands a good strike to Starlear's right arm.
You gesture at Rekave.
He suddenly looks rather passive.
Rekave scowls at you.
Zeteivek says to Etherian, "The trouble with city folk. One short trip into the wilds and they lose their minds."
Zeteivek folds his arms across his chest.
Etherian chuckles.
Etherian nods to Zeteivek.
You ask Rekave, "There is no need for that. We aren't going to hurt him, or you. Do you remember? What happened before the after?"
Starlear gestures at Rekave.
Rekave suddenly turns pale and begins to look unsteady.
You hear a voice say, "He must be fairly tough to get to where he found me."
Starlear says, "I will give him back, but I want to hear the rest of the story first."
Rekave gasps for air and leans sideways, trying to regain balance.
Rekave grabs his head and moans softly.
Starlear nods to Rekave.
Noopin hangs his bizarre axe from his belt.
You hear a voice say, "Without the ice monsters finding him first, I mean."
You get a snifter of Rekave's ridiculously refined brandy from inside your fur-lined sack.
Zeteivek searches around for a moment.
Zeteivek mutters to himself.
Noopin glances at you.
Noopin appears to be trying hard not to grin.
Rekave suddenly vomits all over the ground.
Starlear asks, "What were you doing up there in the water?"
Noopin does an impressive backflip, boldly demonstrating his martial prowess.
You frown.
Rekave suddenly regains his composure.
Gordaer says, "By the looks of him and the rumors I had heard, he has been up there for a while."
You hear a voice say, "Not swimming it, that's for sure."
Noopin nods at Gordaer, obviously agreeing with his views.
Rekave wipes the side of his mouth on his furs.
You gaze at Rekave.
Starlear frowns.
Rekave says, "The water is bad."
Etherian nods in agreement.
Starlear says, "It is, I agree."
Starlear asks, "Was that ring of yours a gift from your friend here?"
Rekave glances at a heavily scratched platinum ring bearing an illegible crest.
Gordaer frowns at Rekave.
Rekave says, "No. It's mine."
Rekave asks, "Are you going to take it, too?"
Rekave's entire body tenses as he clenches his fist.
Zeteivek says, "I say you should."
Starlear says, "No. But I do like shiny things."
You hear a voice ask, "How long were you and wylssin together?"
Starlear says, "Could I get a look at it? Without you, like, showing me it by punching me in the face."
Starlear smirks.
Rekave says, "A long time."
Gordaer gazes thoughtfully at Starlear.
Rekave says to Starlear, "Give Wylsinn back."
Starlear asks Rekave, "What's your name, anyway?"
You hear a voice ask, "... like, years?"
Gordaer says, "I certainly want him calm. And I have an idea. I'll be back shortly."
You nod to Gordaer.
Gordaer goes north.
Rekave fixes Starlear with a calm, clear stare.
Noopin looks over Rekave very closely.
Noopin ponders.
Starlear says to Rekave, "I asked you your name."
Starlear nods to Rekave.
You smile at Rekave.
Starlear says, "I am Starlear."
Starlear nods to Rekave.
Rekave says, "Not until you give me my friend."
Starlear says, "Well, I've had a talk with your friend here, and he thinks you're acting a bit off and you are frightening him."
Rekave exclaims, "You don't know that!"
Rekave lands a light hit to Starlear's chest.
You gesture at Rekave.
He suddenly looks rather passive.
Rekave exclaims, "Give him back!"
The high, clear notes of Noopin's song define a drifting melody that easily soars into the higher reaches of his range.
Rekave goes into a palsied tremor.
Starlear says, "I only know what I am told."
Zeteivek chortles softly at some secret joke.
Starlear says, "And your friend is being forthcoming."
Gordaer just arrived.
You hear a voice ask, "Why not just give it to him and do what you're doing?"
Gordaer says, "Thank you for the moongate. You did a remarkable job."
Rekave exclaims, "You can't just keep him! That's wrong! HE isn't your hostage!"
You hear a voice say, "Continue doing that."
Gordaer nods to you.
You nod to Gordaer.
Rekave asks, "You mountain badgers used to be so nice, what's wrong with you?"
Starlear asks, "He's your hostage?"
Starlear gazes at Rekave.
Rekave exclaims, "He is clearly yours!"
Rekave lands a good hit to Starlear's chest.
A soft crackle briefly comes from Noopin's direction.
You gesture at Rekave.
He suddenly looks rather passive.
Rekave suddenly looks rather less content with life in general.
Rekave lands a good strike to Starlear's left arm.
Zeteivek says to Starlear, "You have one of the best trackers here with you. I don't think this madman has much chance if he decides to run."
Starlear gestures at Rekave.
Rekave suddenly turns pale and begins to look unsteady.
Zeteivek nods to Etherian.
Rekave lands a solid hit to Starlear's neck.
Rekave lands a good strike to Starlear's abdomen.
Starlear frowns.
Rekave says, "GIve him."
Gordaer says, "He still speaks clearly. There may be hope for him."
Rekave says, "Back."
The snow leopard growls, "give him some booze maybe?"
Gordaer says, "An excellent idea."
Gordaer tilts his black rum side to side, making the light play off it.
Starlear whispers something to Gordaer.
You say, "A drunk madman, yes, that will be better."
Rekave gasps for air and leans sideways, trying to regain balance.
Zeteivek starts chortling at you!
Zeteivek nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views.
You sigh.
Rekave suddenly regains his composure.
Etherian grins at you.
Gordaer says, "At the moment, I really just want to get him contained. It may mean I lock him up."
You ask Rekave, "This water is just as bad, but maybe familiar?"
You offer your Rekave's brandy to Rekave, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.
Rekave has declined the offer.
Rekave says, "I want Wylsinn."
Rekave glares at Starlear.
Etherian glances at Rekave.
Gorteous comes out of hiding.
Starlear asks Rekave, "Are you going to run off again if you are given him?"
You ask Rekave, "Will you stay and talk with us if we give him back?"
Noopin asks Rekave, "What if he were to trade you Wyslinn for that pretty ring on your finger...?"
Noopin clears his throat.
Gordaer says, "Leave the ring be."
Noopin narrows his eyes.
Noopin gives a slight nod.
Rekave exclaims, "Why would I want to talk to you?! You took Wylsinn and you won't give him back!"
Noopin quietly says to Gordaer, "I'm worried that it may have been cursed..."
Rekave says, "You can have the stupid ring, give me my friend."
Rekave slides a heavily scratched platinum ring bearing an illegible crest off his finger.
Noopin sighs.
Rekave throws the ring down.
Noopin winces.
Starlear frowns.
Rekave says, "Now give him to me."
Starlear says, "Here's the thing."
Starlear says, "We. All of us, were your friends once."
Zeteivek holds a heavily scratched platinum ring bearing an illegible crest in both hands and closes his eyes in concentration.
Rekave frowns.
Starlear says, "And it is dismaying to see you don't remember us."
Starlear frowns.
Rekave says, "Wylsinn is my only friend."
Zeteivek offers Noopin a heavily scratched platinum ring bearing an illegible crest.
Zeteivek says to Noopin, "Nothing."
Zeteivek shrugs.
Noopin accepts Zeteivek's platinum ring.
Rekave says, "And all I see are a bunch of mountain badgers keeping him away from me."
Noopin scowls.
Starlear frowns.
Rekave's entire body tenses as he clenches his fist.
Starlear asks, "Did it ever occur to you that badgers can't talk?"
Rekave says, "Of course badgers talk."
Rekave says, "You're talking right now."
Rekave blinks at Starlear.
Starlear says, "I am not a badger."
Starlear flips his hair over one shoulder.
Rekave says, "You are."
Starlear says, "I am not."
You hear a voice say, "You're going to have to prove that you aren't."
Starlear says, "Badgers are little, furry, and have stripes."
You hear a voice say, "Perhaps badgering, but not badgers."
Rekave says to Starlear, "Then what do you think you are? Because I'm pretty sure you're a mountain badger."
You get a black faille gem pouch embroidered with a snarling badger from inside your traveler's cloak.
You show Rekave your gem pouch.
Starlear says, "I am an elf."
Starlear nods to Rekave.
Gordaer says, "Hold onto the bladder bag for just another moment."
You say to Rekave, "That is a badger."
Gordaer drops a thin-stemmed goblet of deep black rum.
You point at a black faille gem pouch embroidered with a snarling badger you have.
Gordaer goes west.
Rekave frowns.
Gordaer just arrived.
Rekave says to you, "That's a dirt badger."
Rekave points at Starlear.
You cock your head at Rekave.
Rekave points at you.
Rekave says, "You all."
Gordaer says, "Ok, I got help. Give him the disgusting object."
Rekave says, "You're mountain badgers."
You hear a voice say, "Rekave."
Starlear sighs.
Starlear offers Rekave a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face.
Rekave accepts Starlear's wyvern bladder.
You hear a voice ask, "What have you been doing to the mountain badgers you've come across?"
You offer your Rekave's brandy to Rekave, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.
You smile at Rekave.
Rekave gives a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face a hug!
Rekave beams!
Zeteivek asks Starlear, "You'll let me know when it's time for a spear through the chest, yes?"
Noopin glances at Zeteivek.
Starlear says, "It won't be time for one. Ever."
Rekave says, "Wylsinn! I won't ever let anyone take you away again."
Rekave beams!
Zeteivek scoffs at Starlear.
You hear a voice ask Zeteivek, "Was that a request?"
You ask Rekave, "Will you stay and talk with us?"
Rekave hugs the foul-smelling bladder against his chest.
Zeteivek leans on his spear.
Casserah just arrived.
Starlear asks, "Now will you tell us your name?"
(Rekave looks suspiciously at Mistanna.)
Starlear peers quizzically at Rekave.
You sniff at the brandy.
Noopin offers Rekave a heavily scratched platinum ring bearing an illegible crest.
You take a sip of the brandy.
Rekave says to Starlear, "Fine."
Noopin says to Rekave, "Here.. Here's your ring too. Sorry for asking that you trade it away."
You beam at Rekave!
Noopin says to Rekave, "It is yours."
Noopin says to Rekave, "Rightfully."
Rekave accepts Noopin's platinum ring.
Noopin nods politely to Rekave.
Starlear frowns.
Rekave frowns.
Rekave drops a heavily scratched platinum ring bearing an illegible crest.
Rekave gives a pinecone-filled wyvern bladder painted with a crude face a hug!
Noopin shrugs.
The snow leopard growls, "that was good of you mountain badgers"
Gordaer places his hand on Rekave's shoulder.
Gordaer holds hands with Rekave.
Rekave has declined the offer.
Gordaer entered a sweeping marble archway.
Gordaer came through a sweeping marble archway.
Gordaer grumbles.
You say, "I certainly hope seeing his sister again helps put him back into his wits."
You scrunch your eyebrows together and furrow your brow.
You say, "Or something."
Rekave asks, "Sister?"
Rekave shakes his head.
You nod to Rekave.
Casserah gazes at Rekave.
Starlear says, "You still never told us your name."
Rekave says, "I don't have a sister."
Starlear nods to Rekave.
Rekave says, "Yes I did."
Rekave says to Starlear, "I am Fine."
You say to Rekave, "Aye, a girl that looks just like you. Lady Inyasa Diebo."
Noopin rubs his head.
Noopin groans.
Starlear tilts his head inquisitively.
You hear a voice say, "I beg your forgiveness."
Zeteivek says to Gordaer, "When you have him cleaned up, I'd very much like a better look at those pelts he's wearing. A few of them might be worth salvaging."
Gordaer just entered a sweeping marble archway, dragging Rekave with him.
You rub your head.
You look at Zandrith and shrug.
Zandrith grins.
[The Great Tower, Sentinel's Office]
Also here: Rekave, Gordaer
Rekave says, "No."
Starlear frowns at Rekave.
Rekave shakes his head violently, and seems suddenly more focused.
Starlear asks Rekave, "What were you doing up on that mountain with just your friend in the water?"
Starlear asks, "Don't you know there's maneating wyverns around?"
Starlear frowns.
Rekave asks, "He was in the water?"
Rekave asks, "Did you find him there?"
Rekave says, "That other guy didn't find him."
Rekave says, "I'm pretty sure that guy died."
Starlear says, "You told us that's where you found him."
Rekave says, "At first, yes."
Starlear says, "I'm so confused."
Rekave says, "Wylsinn and I live there."
Rekave says, "I want to go back."
Starlear asks, "...when did you start living there?"
Gordaer reaches for some manacles and clamps one down on Rekave's wrist.
Rekave says, "After."
Rekave blinks at Gordaer.
Starlear asks, "After what?"
Verrouille gnaws on his lip.
Noopin sighs.
Starlear frowns.
Rekave says, "I don't want those."
Gordaer says, "I didn't ask."
Starlear says, "We just want to keep talking and we don't want you to run off."
Starlear frowns at Rekave.
Rekave says to Gordaer, "Take it off."
Zeteivek looks at Gordaer and sighs.
Zeteivek frowns, shaking his head with an expression of exasperation before resting his face in the palm of his hand.
Gordaer says, "You may want to safeguard your friend."
Gordaer nods to Rekave.
Rekave clutches Wylsinn close to his side.
Rekave asks, "Why? Are you going to take him again?"
Rekave exclaims, "I told you! I will eat you!"
Rekave exclaims, "I have before! It's gross, but I'll do it again!"
You frown at Rekave.
Rekave snarls at Gordaer.
The snow leopard growls, "he's slowing growing on me"
Starlear asks, "...you've done it before?"
Starlear glances at Rekave.
Gordaer says, "He tried to bite me..."
Noopin raises an eyebrow.
Casserah glances at Rekave.
Rekave says to Starlear, "I ate a mountain badger."
You blanch.
Starlear says, "I see."
Rekave says, "It wouldn't leave me alone."
Rekave says, "So into the water and out, and then I was hungry so long."
Gordaer says, "I am afraid I am going to need to lock him in the cell."
Rekave says, "It was flapping its stupid badger wingers."
Rekave says, "And spitting."
Rekave says, "And making noises."
Starlear asks, "Spitting fire?"
You say, "He... ate a wyvern."
Rekave says, "And I'm pretty sure it tried to bite Wylsinn."
Verrouille asks, "More scaly than furry?"
Noopin shifts his weight.
Starlear frowns.
The snow leopard growls, "did the badger sting you?"
Starlear gives Gordaer a slight nod.
Rekave frowns.
Gordaer says, "Again. My apologies."
Rekave says, "No, I killed it."
You cover your eyes.
Zeteivek says, "Credit to him, those wyverns taste foul."
Gordaer roughly twists Rekave's shackled arm behind his back.
Rekave cocks his head at Zeteivek.
Casserah winces.
Noopin gazes at Rekave with a grim look on his face.
Rekave says to Gordaer, "Hey, no."
Zeteivek appears to be trying hard not to grin.
Gordaer pushes Rekave through a nearby door, which closes behind him.
Casserah frowns.
Verrouille frowns.
Noopin sighs.
You sigh.
Starlear hesitantly asks, "Well at least he's alive?"
Noopin takes a seat.
Starlear says, "Which is more than I was expecting, really."
Noopin rubs his head.
Starlear frowns.
Verrouille gazes at a steel-braced door.
You hear a sudden loud burst of cussing.
Noopin says, "I'm not sure which is worse now..."
Noopin shakes his head.
Zeteivek says, "He would've talked more after a few spear jabs."
Zeteivek looks at Starlear and shrugs.
Zeteivek puts his spear in his leather baldric.
You hear a loud clang from behind the door.
Casserah says, "Perhaps with some time and his sister's help... she is an Empath, after all."
Noopin glances at a steel-braced door.
Casserah glances at a steel-braced door.
You stand near a steel-braced door.
Several loud thuds echo into the room and the door shudders briefly.
Noopin says to Casserah, "Let's hope..."
Noopin gives Casserah a slight nod.
Starlear says, "I am not sure I really like either outcome of this."
Zeteivek hesitantly says, "I'm expecting him to burst out of that door without his pelts on."
Casserah rests her hand on Starlear's arm with a soft smile.
You loudly exclaim, "Please don't hurt yourself!"
You gaze at a steel-braced door.
The door suddenly opens, and Gordaer walks through.
Gordaer closes the door.
Noopin gazes at Gordaer.
Starlear frowns.
Zeteivek sniffs at Gordaer.
Zeteivek makes a grunting noise.
Casserah's fingers twitch uncomfortably.
Gordaer slowly empties his lungs.
Gordaer says, "I do appreciate all of your help."
The snow leopard growls, "well done mountain badgers"
You gaze at a steel-braced door.
Starlear asks, "What now?"
Gordaer says, "I will need to brief the Tower. He obviously needs to rehabilitation."
Starlear nods at Gordaer, obviously agreeing with his views.
Starlear says, "I know you didn't want to give false hope, but I do wish you'd said something."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Noopin says, "I'm just glad we could bring him back unharmed, I suppose... At least no more beyond whatever has damaged his head."
Gordaer says, "And I obviously need rest."
Gordaer stares blankly into the distance.
Starlear nods in agreement.
Starlear says, "Alive is better than I was thinking he was, honestly."
Starlear frowns.
Noopin gives Starlear a slight nod.
Gordaer says, "Needless to say, I am quite displeased."
You scrunch your eyebrows together and furrow your brow.
Gordaer says, "All of that searching on Hara'jaal and Aesry. And here he was nearly in our backyard."
Gordaer scowls.
Casserah gazes at a steel-braced door.
Casserah asks, "Perhaps he wasn't the entire time?"
Gordaer says to Casserah, "It is the safest thing for him."
Noopin stands up.
Noopin dusts himself off.
Casserah nods to Gordaer.
The snow leopard growls, "or traveling judging by the pelts"
Casserah says, "I am sure it is, but still."
Verrouille softly says, "He was clearly afraid. It's hard to find someone who doesn't want to be found."
Starlear says, "I wonder what happened to him to leave him in...that...state."
Starlear nods at Verrouille, obviously agreeing with his views.
Starlear says, "He did not have that scar the last I'd seen him."
Starlear frowns.
Gordaer says, "That is a possibility."
Gordaer says, "I will be sure that the Empath's Guild will check him out, mentally and physically."
Casserah nods to Gordaer.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
A low groaning noise echos out from behind the door.
Gordaer says, "Lords, I hope that bladder doesn't stink up my office..."
Gordaer scowls.
You give a half-hearted grin.
Zeteivek says, "It will. Give it a day. Two at most."
Casserah says, "Good luck with that one."
Zeteivek tugs at the strap on his leather baldric.
Aftermath asks, "How long do you plan on keeping it there?"
Aftermath pats Gordaer on the back.
Starlear frowns.
Gordaer says, "If you hear shrieking echoing through the streets of Shard, I merely took the toy away."
Aftermath chuckles.
Gordaer says, "All of you did an excellent job today."
Aftermath says, "He probbaly just needs some time."
Gordaer says, "I apologize for failing you and getting hurt."
Verrouille says, "It could have happened to any one of us."
You peer quizzically at Gordaer.
Starlear says, "You're alive now."
Starlear grins, revealing his dimples.
Aftermath says, "How long has he been looking for this Wylsinn."
Gordaer says, "And that is much appreciated."
Etherian says, "Sorry I wasn't quick enough to drag you to safety."
Etherian frowns.
Starlear says, "Wylsinn is the...wyvern bladder that he has with him that's full of pinecones."
Starlear nods to Aftermath.
Gordaer looks at Aftermath and shrugs.
Starlear says, "He's not playing with a full set of cards, as it were."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Aftermath nods to Starlear.
The snow leopard growls, "what's their relationship?"
Aftermath says, "Just curious how long he's been in that state."
Zeteivek says, "It is a silly thing. Every good madman knows that rocks are much friendlier than pinecones."
Gordaer says, "Hard to say."
Starlear says, "He's been gone for some time now."
Gordaer says, "Hopefully we'll have more answers soon."
Starlear frowns.
Starlear nods at Gordaer, obviously agreeing with his views.
Starlear says, "I sort of regret making him vomit all over."
Gordaer says, "I must be on my way. The Tower would like a report."
You lean back.
Starlear blanches.
Casserah glances at Starlear.
Starlear says to Casserah, "Vertigo."
You nod in agreement.
Verrouille bows to Gordaer.
Casserah nods to Starlear.
You smile at Gordaer.
The snow leopard growls, "good luck with all the looks while explaining that "
Starlear snaps to attention and hails Gordaer with a crisp hand salute.
Gordaer says, "Again, you all did an admirable job. I really appreciate you."
Noopin nods politely to Gordaer.
Gordaer goes out.
The door suddenly shakes visibly as something pounds on it repeatedly. A loud howling yell starts up behind it.
You gaze at a steel-braced door.
You reach out and touch a steel-braced door.
Casserah says, "It seems sturdy."
You say, "I know."
You give a half-hearted grin.
Several loud crashes emit from behind the door. You can hear someone yelling several obscenities punctuating each crash.
Noopin gazes at a steel-braced door.
Noopin frowns.
You gaze down at the floor.
You say, "Take care."
You wander out.
(Stepped out for about 20 roi)
Casserah says, "He seems rather cunning the way he is. Perhaps he kept moving to hide."
You sit down near Sebrahn.
Faintly, you hear someone muttering, "Wylsinn, that's just disgusting."
You offer your Rekave's brandy to Sebrahn, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.
Starlear gets a thin-stemmed goblet of deep black rum from inside his leather backpack.
Starlear sniffs at a thin-stemmed goblet of deep black rum.
Starlear takes a sip of his rum.
Starlear blanches.
Starlear puts his rum in his leather backpack.
Sebrahn has accepted your offer and is now holding a snifter of Rekave's ridiculously refined brandy.
You gaze at a steel-braced door.
You manage a sad-eyed grin.
Starlear leans over and whispers, "We're trying to not speak to him, because it's quiet now but when we acknowledge him he seems to try and break the door down and swears a lot. He needs the rest."
You nod to Starlear.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
You get a tapered gloomwood stylus tipped in burnished darkstone from inside your thigh bag.
Starlear gets some seal-pelt moccasins threaded with black leather laces from inside his leather backpack.
You get a sleek white leather journal tooled with a blooming lotus design from inside your thigh bag.
Starlear offers Sebrahn some seal-pelt moccasins threaded with black leather laces.
Starlear says, "I clubbed them myself."
Starlear nods to Sebrahn.
Starlear offers Sebrahn some seal-pelt moccasins threaded with black leather laces.
Casserah glances at you.
Sebrahn accepts Starlear's seal-pelt moccasins.
Sebrahn smiles.
Sebrahn says, "Thank you."
You nod to Starlear.
Casserah takes a seat near Sebrahn.
Noopin paces back and forth.
Casserah glances at you.
Verrouille quietly says, "I'm afraid all this excitement has me quite exhausted. I may need to lie down for a while."
Casserah nods to Verrouille.
You smile at Verrouille.
Verrouille gives a slight nod.
Casserah gets a jungle turquoise from inside a golden brocade pouch clasped with a silver oak leaf.
Casserah offers Sebrahn a jungle turquoise.
Casserah rubs Sebrahn gently, massaging his muscles.
Casserah says, "A minor distraction."
Sebrahn smiles.
Noopin says, "Take care, Verrouille. Be well."
Sebrahn accepts Casserah's jungle turquoise.
Sebrahn gazes at his turquoise.
Starlear nods.
Starlear says, "Thanks for coming."
Sebrahn says, "Thank you."
Sebrahn opens a tallowed leather divination case secured with strap and buckle closures.
Sebrahn puts his turquoise in a sable leather backpack.
Sebrahn closes a tallowed leather divination case secured with strap and buckle closures.
Sebrahn says, "It's very pretty."
Starlear stands up.
Starlear dusts himself off.
Noopin says, "I think perhaps I should take my leave as well."
You nod to Noopin.
Starlear says, "Thanks for the help."
Starlear nods to Noopin.
Noopin says, "Please send word if there are any updates or if he starts speaking some sense from behind that door there."
Starlear snaps to attention and hails Noopin with a crisp hand salute.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Starlear says, "Certainly."
Noopin says, "Absolutely, it's my pleasure."
Noopin raises his hand in a quick salute.
Noopin says, "Take care."
Battle Chanter Noopin strolls out.
Casserah whispers something to Sebrahn.
Casserah hugs Sebrahn, who wraps his arms around Casserah with a warm smile.
Casserah stands up.
Casserah hugs Zandrith, getting a smile in return.
Casserah hugs Starlear, who wraps his arms around Casserah with a warm smile.
Casserah nods to you.
You wave to Casserah.
Sebrahn waves to Casserah.
Zandrith just hugged Casserah.
Casserah goes out.
Zandrith leans on Sebrahn.
Sebrahn smiles at Zandrith.
You gaze at Starlear.
Starlear dusts himself off.
You offer your lujeakave ale to Starlear, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.
Starlear has declined the offer.
You say, "You're still hurt."
Starlear says, "Quentin will see to it in a bit I'm sure."
You nod.
You haven't studied a constellation, but you jot down some notes.
Zandrith says, "I suppose Ill go say some prayers for Rekave. It couldn't hurt."
Muffled muttering drifts into the room.
You nod at Zandrith, in complete agreement with his views.
Sebrahn nods at Zandrith, obviously agreeing with his views.
Zandrith says, "You all be safe."
Zandrith nods.
Gremlin Zandrith slogs out.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Starlear frowns.
Sebrahn points at Starlear.
Sebrahn points down.
Sebrahn says, "Sit."
Starlear takes a seat near a steel-braced door.
Starlear frowns, shaking his head with an expression of exasperation before resting his face in the palm of his hand.
Starlear chuckles.
Sebrahn says, "I think I'm going to rest in the corner here."
Sebrahn says to Starlear, "I'm glad you were there."
Starlear chuckles.
Starlear says, "I wish I was more useful."
You lean on Sebrahn.
Sebrahn says, "Tell him some puns."
Sebrahn leans on you.
You ask Sebrahn, "Do you need a bedroll or any blankets?"
Sebrahn shakes his head at you.
You nod.
You rub Sebrahn's back.
You'll need to SCRIBE <item>. Knowing this, you jot down some notes.
Sebrahn lies down.
Sebrahn furrows his brow.
Sebrahn sits up.
Sebrahn gazes at a steel-braced door.
Sebrahn asks, "Wylsinn?"
Sebrahn peers quizzically at Starlear.
Starlear says, "He had a wyvern bladder that was stuffed full of pinecones."
Starlear says, "He was talking to it and calling it by that name."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Sebrahn cocks his head.
Starlear says, "He's...not well."
Starlear says, "He also has quite the scar on his face now."
Sebrahn says, "That's of little importance."
Starlear nods.
Starlear says, "I just worry about what happened to him is all."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Starlear says, "It looks to have been quite an ordeal."
Sebrahn asks, "Do you think he killed a wyvern?"
Sebrahn says, "With his bare hands."
You nod to Sebrahn.
Sebrahn gazes off into the distance.
You say, "Well, I'm not sure about bare. But he had to get the bladder from... somewhere."
Suddenly there's a loud bang at the door and a voice yells out, "You're going to have to open this door some time! I'm going to rip your face off with my teeth with you do!" A sound thud hits the wall again and you hear the faint sounds of someone moving away from the door.
You gaze at a steel-braced door.
Sebrahn frowns.
Sebrahn asks, "Did they feed him?"
You ask, "Not unless someone came in before you did, I guess?"
You ponder.
You say, "I have some jerky. And cupcakes."
Sebrahn rummages through a cream canvas candy bag but it's clear he hasn't a clue if what he is looking for is there.
Sebrahn gets a fluffy fairy floss goatee dusted with edible rainbow glitter from inside a cream canvas candy bag.
Sebrahn frowns slightly as he attempts to stuff the fairy floss under the door.
Sebrahn scowls.
Sebrahn shakes his fairy floss goatee!
Starlear says, "You shouldn't want to rip our faces off."
Starlear nods to a steel-braced door.
Sebrahn gazes at a steel-braced door.
Something large crashes against the other side of the door in response.
Sebrahn puts his goatee in a sable leather backpack.
Starlear asks, "So what were you doing up there anyhow, Mr. Fine?"
Sebrahn sighs.
Sebrahn says, "Rekave? Calm down and rest. You're safe now."
A voice from behind the door yells out, "Shut up! This isn't safe! I lived just FINE out there!"
You ask, "I thought you were hungry?"
Starlear asks, "Why did you want to go out there in the first place?"
Starlear says, "Everyone was so worried about you."
Starlear says, "We missed having you around."
Starlear frowns.
Sebrahn quietly says, "I missed you."
Starlear nods at Sebrahn, obviously agreeing with his views.
A voice from behind the door yells out, "Always been there! Ever since... water! Because of the water!"
Sebrahn glances at Starlear.
A voice from behind the door yells out, "I don't even know you mountain badgers. Friend thieves."
Starlear asks, "What water?"
You ask, "The bad water?"
Starlear asks, "The river up there we found you in?"
Starlear asks, "Or different water?"
Starlear nods at Sebrahn, obviously agreeing with his views.
You lean on Sebrahn.
Starlear frowns.
Sebrahn nods at Starlear, obviously agreeing with his views.
A voice from behind the door yells out, "Big water, the bad water. It was so red.. and, yes Wylsinn, I know that, I'm telling them, shut up! I met him after."
You ask, "Was the red water near where we found you?"
You scrunch your eyebrows together and furrow your brow.
Starlear asks, "Was it indoor water or outdoor water?"
A scuffling noise is heard close to the door and then a voice comes from near the bottom of the door, "Outside. Lots of water, and red everywhere, and my head hurt. The mountain badgers helped me and Wylsinn."
Starlear asks, "And it was just up in the mountains? Or somewhere else?"
Sebrahn says, "Someone may have attacked him and pushed him in. If they hit him in the head, the water could have been red with blood."
Starlear says, "That would explain his scar, too."
Starlear asks, "Did the badgers that helped you have a name?"
A disembodied voice says, "I only remember the water and the mountain. I stayed. No, they are just mountain badgers."
Starlear asks, "You don't remember before the water, then?"
Starlear frowns.
A disembodied voice says, "They pick up the dead and help them sometimes."
Sebrahn just touched a steel-braced door.
You ask, "Do you remember if any of those badgers told you their names?"
Starlear asks, "Did the badgers ever make colorful drawings on the ground?"
A disembodied voice says, "No and no."
A disembodied voice says, "Colorful drawings? I don't know. The mountain badgers don't like to be seen."
A disembodied voice says, "They are there sometimes, and then they are not. And sometimes they are nice, and then sometimes THEY STEAL YOUR FRIENDS!"
You say, "You're right, we thought they had stolen you from us."
Starlear asks, "Do you never wonder about before the water?"
Starlear says, "I mean, even if you don't remember, you have to know that you didn't just appear there and that was your existence."
Starlear asks, "Don't you ever wonder about what your life was before then?"
A disembodied voice says, "Filthy mountain badgers, you just want the secret! I won't tell you."
A disembodied voice says, "Shut up Wylsinn, they can't know that. You can't tell them, either."
Starlear asks, "Do you know how upset you were when you thought we'd taken Wylsinn from you?"
You say, "Secrets can be interesting, but really we are glad you are okay. And I'm sorry we tried to use Wylsinn to get you to come with us."
A disembodied voice says, "Thought? You DID take him."
Starlear says, "Before the water, YOU were OUR friend. Long before. And then you disappeared. We looked all over the world for you. We thought the worst at first, that someone had hurt you and taken you. You know what that's like, obviously."
You nod at Starlear, in complete agreement with his views.
Starlear says, "And then we decided maybe you were alive and you just didn't want to be our friend anymore."
Starlear says, "And then seeing you now? Well it's very hard. We just want to know what happened to make you hate us so much."
Starlear says, "If you even remember us."
You gaze at a steel-braced door.
Starlear says, "If you don't remember us though, maybe you should give things time and try to."
A disembodied voice says, "I don't know you. You took my friend."
Starlear says, "And then gave him back."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Starlear asks, "It doesn't bother you at all? Not knowing what was before the water?"
A disembodied voice says, "And now I'm in here. Until that one sneaky badger comes back. I won't stay here, you watch and see!"
You say, "You don't know us right now, because you can't remember before the water. We could be your friends again, though."
A disembodied voice says, "Why should it? I had everything."
You ask, "I thought you were hungry and had to do gross things?"
A disembodied voice says, "Once. I ate that spitting badger."
Starlear frowns.
You say, "We call those types of badgers, wyverns. There's just too many badgers to keep track of otherwise."
Starlear frowns.
You say, "That was very brave of you though. I would be eaten by those, not eat them."
You break out in a silly grin.
A disembodied voice says, "I had a big thing with rocks on it, and I threw it and the why-fern thing, whatever. Stop interrupting Wylsinn. The thing went into the water and when it came out, it was dead."
Sebrahn asks, "What is Wylsinn saying?"
You smile softly.
A disembodied voice says, "Wylsinn says it was a hammer. I had a hammer with some weird rocks on it. It's gone now."
Starlear says, "I remember your hammer well."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
You quietly say, "Aw that pretty jeweled hammer he had."
Starlear asks, "Do you remember your armor? With the big star on it?"
A disembodied voice says, "Star? No."
You ponder.
You ask, "Was the red water very hot?"
You say, "I think it hurt you, or something by the water hurt you."
Starlear says, "I remember that armor very well. With a bright gold star on the breastplate."
A disembodied voice says, "It's not always red. It was just red the first day."
A disembodied voice says, "I don't remember that. Sounds weird."
Starlear asks, "Did you not have anything else? Just your hammer, when you were in the water?"
Starlear frowns.
A disembodied voice says, "I had lots of things. I had clothes. Some purple and green stuff. I had some weird stones on chains, too."
Sebrahn asks, "What else does Wylsinn want to tell us?"
Starlear says, "Yes, we can't hear him through the door."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
A disembodied voice says, "He claims you aren't badgers, but I don't believe him."
Starlear smiles, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Sebrahn asks, "Has he ever lied to you before?"
A disembodied voice says, "He lies all the time."
You chuckle.
Starlear asks, "What else does he lie about?"
Sebrahn says, "Are you sure? He's your friend. Friends don't lie."
A disembodied voice says, "Shut up, you do so. Gods, Wylsinn. You lied about that stupid fart three days ago. YES YOU DID I KNOW IT WAS YOU."
Starlear frowns, shaking his head with an expression of exasperation before resting his face in the palm of his hand.
You try hard not to grin.
Starlear frowns.
A disembodied voice says, "I'm not stupid, you ripped that fart like no tomorrow, there's no way it was me."
Sebrahn grins.
You cover your mouth with your hand.
A disembodied voice says, "Wylsinn lies all the time."
Starlear quietly says, "I keep hoping his sister walks in and screams at him to get his crap together and everything instantly goes back to normal."
You give Starlear a half-hearted grin.
Starlear quietly says, "But I also feel like if anyone would know something to say to make him remember, it'd be her."
You say, "I do hope that he recognises her a little at least."
You nod at Starlear, in complete agreement with his views.
Starlear frowns.
A disembodied voice says, "Who are you? How many of you are there?"
A disembodied voice says, "Wylsinn wants to know."
You say, "Sort of like the wyverns, we're called different things too. Mostly, people... that's like me, you and the other kinds of mountain badgers. But there's different types of those too. I am a ra... er... human. Starlear is an Elf. You are Elothean."
You say, "I am Mistanna."
Starlear says, "There are three of us right now. There were more earlier."
You lean on Sebrahn.
A disembodied voice says, "Elf. That's the one that had Wylsinn? Who is the third?"
Sebrahn says, "I'm Sebrahn."
Starlear says, "He was not here until after you were in there."
Starlear whispers something to Sebrahn.
Starlear gets a creamy sheet of opaque paper from inside his adventurer's satchel.
Starlear offers Sebrahn a creamy sheet of opaque paper.
Sebrahn accepts Starlear's opaque paper.
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Sebrahn puts his brandy in his leather backpack.
Sebrahn gets a gold-tipped ruddy hawk feather quill from inside a large canvas sack painted with a magnificent three-masted ship.
Sebrahn moves a gold-tipped ruddy hawk feather quill to his left hand.
Sebrahn moves a creamy sheet of opaque paper to his right hand.
Sebrahn writes something on his paper.
Sebrahn rubs a creamy sheet of opaque paper.
Sebrahn drops a creamy sheet of opaque paper.
(Sebrahn slides one corner of the paper under the door. )
Sebrahn puts his quill in a sable leather backpack.
You rub Sebrahn gently, trying to massage any sore muscles.
A muffled spitting noise comes from the door, then several unclear words, and then something slides the paper under the door.
Starlear says, "You should let Wylsinn read it."
A disembodied voice says, "Wylsinn? He doesn't read."
Starlear says, "Well perhaps you could explain to him what it says then."
A disembodied voice says, "Why did you stuff this into my mouth?"
Starlear says, "Oh. Uh. Well, we couldn't see under the door and didn't know your mouth would be right there."
A disembodied voice says, "Whatever. Who is for? What is this wreck-ave thing? Wreck-ov? Weird name."
Sebrahn says, "It's for you. Read it to Wylsinn."
You say, "Before the water, you were called Rekave Diebo."
A disembodied voice says, "How can I be wreck-whatever face? I'm Fine."
You ask, "Did one of the mountain-people tell you that you were fine?"
A disembodied voice says, "No. Wylsinn asked me if I was okay, and I said, I'm Fine, because I am."
You notice an immense blue-eyed grey leopard sniff at you for a moment. (It never sniffed at anyone else.)
You gaze at an immense blue-eyed grey leopard.
You sniff at your skin and inhale the faint scent of lavender.
You make a grunting noise.
Starlear gestures, and a water ball forms in the air, hovering a hair's breadth above his hand. He gazes at it intently, and suddenly it slides out of his hand towards you!
The water ball glances off of your golden shield!
The water ball bursts as it hits the floor!
Starlear whistles a merry tune.
Starlear casually observes the area.
You say, "You are correct, but fine is more of a how instead of a who."
You squint at Starlear.
A disembodied voice says, "It's a who. I am Fine. I thought I told you that?"
You say, "You would say you are fine if you are not sad, or mad, but maybe not really happy either. Fine doesn't tend to be a name."
A disembodied voice says, "It's my name."
You say, "It can be a name too though. You can even have more than one if you really want. You could be Fine Rekave."
Starlear asks, "Who gave you the name?"
Sebrahn says, "He gave it to himself."
You say, "Wylsinn gave it to him."
A disembodied voice says, "Why do I have to be both?"
Sebrahn says, "You can be anyone you like. I'm just glad that you're home safe."
A disembodied voice says, "Wylsinn said it's not okay to be both."
Starlear says, "Well, if you have to pick between being Rekave and being Fine."
You say, "You don't have to be both, but I'm afraid you really should be Rekave. That's what you were called when you were born."
Starlear says, "I would hope you'd pick being Rekave."
Starlear says, "Rekave is better than fine. He's great."
You beam at Starlear!
You say to Starlear, "That is a good point."
Starlear says, "Better than great, even. I mean, one of the last times I saw him, he was Effulgent and Remarkable Paladin of Immense Holy Goodness Rekave."
Starlear says, "Which, while a mouthful, is way better than simply being fine."
A disembodied voice says, "What a maroon. There's no way I was wreck-face."
You cover your mouth with your hand.
Starlear asks, "What would you do to help Wylsinn, if he had forgotten who he was, Fine?"
Starlear says, "If you knew so much about him and he just couldn't remember, and maybe something bad happened and he got hurt and forgot."
Starlear says, "I mean, he lies to you even, but you were pretty upset when he was taken away."
Starlear says, "There's a bond there."
Starlear says, "I think you'd do a lot for him."
A disembodied voice says, "Wylsinn gets hurt all the time. He goes in the water. One time, he fell to pieces."
Starlear asks, "Did you put him back together?"
A disembodied voice says, "Yes. With bone and some dried sinew, and some stuff I found."
Starlear asks, "What was it like without him?"
Starlear says, "I mean, before he was fixed."
A disembodied voice says, "He was still there. He's not like everyone else."
Starlear gives a slight nod.
Starlear says, "How is he different? You know, aside from looking how he does."
A disembodied voice says, "Wylsinn, that's not nice. Yes, I know, but really, it's not like they can do anything now."
A disembodied voice says, "He doesn't get all weird when he is hurt, and he doesn't forget. He just lies. A lot."
Starlear asks, "'What's he saying?"
Starlear says, "That we can't do."
A disembodied voice says, "He said some mean stuff because of what you said about him looking different."
Starlear says, "I didn't mean he looked bad. He just doesn't look like us."
Starlear says, "Different isn't bad, it's just different."
Starlear shrugs.
You say, "I don't care if you want to be called Fine or Rekave, I'm glad you are okay."
You say, "And Wylsinn too."
You nod.
A disembodied voice says, "I'm tired. Don't let the badger come in while I sleep. I don't want to stay in here."
Starlear says, "We won't let anyone disturb you."
Starlear says, "Get some rest."
Sebrahn says, "We'll keep it away."
You say, "We don't want you to stay in there either. We'll stay around."
You say, "Until you can come out."
Sebrahn nods to Starlear.
Sebrahn hugs you, and you wrap your arms around him with a warm smile.
Sebrahn lies down.
You pull Sebrahn to you in a tight hug.
Sebrahn just left.
You smile quietly at Starlear.
You notice an immense blue-eyed grey leopard sniff at you for a moment.
You notice as an immense blue-eyed grey leopard waves its tail slowly in the air.
You quietly say, "Apparently the leopard really likes lavender."
Scribe of the Crystal Vanguard
Mistanna Redivas
